story time

(Source Unknown)

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside all us all.

One is evil.

It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is good.

It is joy, peace, love hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied,
"The one you feed."

Divine Inspiration: Sarah Moon

It's been too long since I did a 'Divine Inspiration' post. I find it almost everywhere, or it finds me. Today, it's all about Sarah Moon. She is a photographer that isn't afraid to push her own limits.

Her images are dark and alluring and almost dream-like. Her images haunt me in a way that is difficult to describe. I am drawn to her lightlessness. The compel me to feel, which is what all great artists should set out to do. She has a definitive eye and a style all her own.  In a world of repetition and copycats, she remains an individual.

"After all these years, people hire me because they want my impression," she says, "they know what I do. I know how difficult it is to make a living as a fashion photographer, however, and, with so many photographers now working, it is harder than ever to believe in your own vision, to listen to your own voice. That, though, is what any good photographer must do. That, in the end, is what it is all about. You have to listen to your own voice, to work for yourself, and accept that it will make all the difference."
~Sarah Moon

"I've often envied those who photograph life. I avoid it. I start from nothing. I make up a story, which I leave untold. I imagine a situation, which doesn't exist. I wipe out the space to invent another. I shift the light. I rend everything unreal. And then I try. I watch out for what I didn't expect. I wait to see what I can't remember. I undo what I put together. I hope for hazard. But more than anything, I long to ne struck as a shoot."
~ Sarah Moon

"For a split second, I see a sparkle of beauty passing by. That instance of grace that I nearly missed, and  that will never happen again."
~Sarah Moon

believe in your own vision. listen to your voice. shift the light. see the sparkle of beauty.

Happy Tuesday!!

Softly Fade Away {52 Photos Project}

Let the idea you have of yourself softly fade away,
so that you may become who you're meant to be.
